1.Tell us a little about your law practice–whether you have a specialty and what types of clients you work with.

We work with all sizes of companies to resolve their business disputes, often in the area of intellectual property (patents, trademark and copyright infringement, as well as theft of trade secrets).  We have significant experience handling litigation matters where the disputes include scientific or technical issues, often involving manufacturing companies.  We also handle other commercial disputes, including contract disputes and covenant not to compete matters.  We handle matters locally as well as in courts across the country.

In addition to our litigation practice, we utilize our legal experience to assist clients in developing “best practices” for protecting trade secrets, with a focus on preventing trade secret theft and minimizing the cost of enforcement litigation if thefts occur, as they unfortunately do.  Trade secrets are among the most valuable assets businesses have and are too frequently lacking adequate protection. Businesses frequently have extensive trade secrets that are central to their operations but are often unaware of how important their trade secrets are until after they are stolen.  We assist clients in identifying those trade secrets early, and putting systems and processes in place that enhance their protection while integrating well with the day-to-day work flow of the business.

2.What did you do before starting your practice?

Prior to starting my firm in 2015, I practiced law for over two decades with several other law firms in New York and Philadelphia.

3.Where did you go to school?

University of Pennsylvania for both law school and college.

4.Why did you decide to join GNPCC or what excites you about being a chamber member?

I am excited by the new initiatives and programs that the GNPCC is undertaking, especially for women in business and manufacturing.

5.Any other information you think would be relevant to other chamber members?

I am the Founder and President of Women Owned Law, a national networking group for women owned law and legal services firms that is based here in Philadelphia.  Through our network, we can help businesses with all of their legal needs.

Also, my firm became WBENC certified at the end of last year.

6.As a business owner, what advice would you give other professionals who are considering starting a business?

Talk with other business owners in similar businesses before starting, for advice and lessons learned.  I have found other business owners to be very generous with their time in this regard, willing to share information about trusted vendors and suppliers, best practices and the like.

7.What do you think is the most important key to professional success, given the current economic climate?

I think that viewing all your business relationships as a partnership, and cultivating a view that you are there to help one another, makes for greater professional success.  Try to be a trusted advisor for your clients and contacts, and don’t be afraid to ask others for advice and assistance when you need it.
