Tue., June 27, 2017 City of Philadelphia

On Sunday, June 11, 2017 at approximately 11:09 p.m., Sonitrol Verification Center operator Gabriel Straessley started receiving video alarms from Aspite Auto Auction, 7000 State Rd., in their vehicle storage yard in Northeast Philadelphia.

Once the operator verified the alarm, he noticed a man walking around on the property. He contacted Antonio Aspite and explained what he was seeing. Mr. Aspite immediately remotely accessed into this camera system from his home and requested law enforcement to the site. Mr. Aspite contacted his local security guard company who responded to unlock the gates.

The operator immediately contacted Philadelphia Police and informed them there was a break-in in-progress and that he has verified video of the activity.

Strike Force security officer Asif Qureshi and Irfan Chughtai arrived at the site and unlocked the gates for Philadelphia Police Officers Roberto Acevedo and Thomas Wilmer who were on the scene, the two police officers and security officers conducted a search of the site and found an intruder hiding among the vehicles.

Mr. Aspite advised that at sunrise, he found over 30 catalytic converters had been cut out of vehicles that were in his impound lot.

Sonitrol Security of Delaware Valley thanks Philadelphia Police Officers Thomas Wilmer and Roberto Acevedo, as well as Strike Force Protection Agency officers Asif Qureski and Irfan Chughtai.

We would also like to thank the Philadelphia Police dispatch center for working with Sonitrol Operator Gabriel Straessley to insure the valuable information was relayed to the responding officers that resulted in one apprehension.
