ED RendellEdward G. Rendell, who served two terms as Governor of Pennsylvania and Mayor of Philadelphia, and today is a high profile news analyst for NBC and rabid Philadelphia sports fan who frequently appears on area radio and television stations, will be the keynote speaker at the next Greater Northeast Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce Executive Lunch on Friday, June 9, 2017, 11:30 am at the Union League Golf Club at Torresdale.

Tickets are $65 for members and invited guests, and $75 for non-members. There is limited seating, since the setting is designed in “fireside chat” format. Please email events@nephilachamber.com or call 215.332.3400.

After 34 years of public service, including 24 years as an elected official, Ed Rendell continues to pursue many of the same issues he was passionate about while serving. His commitment to making America a cleaner, more efficient place and to fostering investment in our nation’s crumbling infrastructure is as strong as it has ever been.

Gov. Rendell has become a champion for progress in the area of alternative energy, and now serves as a consultant or board member for several green and alternative energy firms, including Own Energy, the Efficiency Network and VNG.co. He has also remained heavily involved in the campaign for government efficiency and strategic cost cutting through his work with entities such as Government Sourcing Solutions and Public Financial Management.

In 2012, Governor Rendell penned his first book, “A Nation of Wusses: How America’s Leaders Lost the Guts to Make Us Great.” In the book, Mr. Rendell chronicles his storied political career with his trademark candor while making a strong statement about the state of American leadership. He also writes a weekly sports column for Philly.com, and appears on CSN Philly’s popular “Eagles Post Game Live” show.

Before serving as Philadelphia’s mayor, Mr. Rendell was elected District Attorney of Philadelphia for two terms from 1978 through 1985. He also served as chair of the Democratic National Committee during the 2000 Presidential election. He currently sits on several boards, supports multiple non-profit organizations and teaches government and politics courses at the University of Pennsylvania.

An Army veteran, he holds a B.A. from the University of Pennsylvania and a J.D. from Villanova Law School.

The inaugural GNPCC Executive Lunch was held March 10 at the Union League Golf Club at Torresdale in Northeast Philadelphia. It featured foreign policy expert Ed Turzanski, who was interviewed by veteran public strategist Dennis Powell.

Governor Rendell will be interviewed by GNPCC board member Dan McElhatton, a former Philadelphia City Council member. Mr. McElhatton served in City Council from 1992 to 1996 during Mr. Rendell’s first term as Philadelphia’s mayor.
