American Heritage Credit Union Hosts Ninth Annual Red Cross Blood Drive

American Heritage Credit Union (American Heritage) recently hosted its Ninth Annual Red Cross Blood Drive on Friday, April 27, 2018 on their main campus located at 2068 Red Lion Road, Philadelphia, PA.

American Heritage employees volunteered to donate blood to support the American Red Cross. On the day of the event, two dozen donors gave blood, and one also gave a “Power Red” donation. A Power Red donation is a concentrated dose of red cells, the part of one’s blood used every day for those needing transfusions as part of their care. Red blood cells are the most commonly transfused blood component, and therefore the most needed. Since they carry oxygen throughout the body, they are essential to hospital patients.

“We’re proud of our employees for helping our community and the cause,” stated Bruce K. Foulke, President & CEO of American Heritage. “With our employees’ donations, we can save patients’ lives. We want to thank the American Red Cross for allowing us the opportunity to host this event and are honored to continue this important annual tradition.”

American Red Cross Biomedical Services is the largest single supplier of blood and blood products in the United States, collecting and processing approximately 40 percent of the blood supply and distributing it to about 2,600 hospitals and transfusion centers nationwide. The Red Cross also plays a leading role in protecting the safety of donors and patients and increasing the availability of blood.
